Her Story ...
Alfa was born in Ethiopia, spending ten of her twelve years of childhood there without her mother, who had escaped the dictatorship to work as a waitress and seamstress until she could bring Alfa to the U.S.
Once in the U.S., Alfa focused on her studies and graduated cum laude from Harvard University with a major in Government.
Her Calling ...
Alfa realized that the story of her mom was a story about the power of entrepreneurship to create economic opportunity that transformed the life of her family.
If Alfa could find a way to invest in the success of people like her mom, she could have an impact that could affect multiple generations of families.
So, Alfa turned her focus to economic empowerment and co-founded Rising Tide Capital.
Her Impact ...
Rising Tide Capital is a non-profit organization whose mission is to assist struggling individuals and communities in building strong businesses.
The organization runs the Community Business Academy – an intensive business training session that includes year-round coaching and mentorship.
Rising Tide Capital has assisted more than 500 entrepreneurs, helping them pursue their own paths for business success.
