Q+A

How did you get into illustration?
Already at an early age, I knew that I was going to work in the creative field. When I finished high school, I studied illustration at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam... From the second year I started doing little freelance jobs on the side. So after graduating, I had quite some things running and even a few semi-regular clients. I could start as a full time freelancer right away!
Where are some places your work has been featured?
I’ve been working with clients like: Unicef, Wrap Magazine, ELLE, Chronicle Books, New York Magazine, Marks & Spencers, Red Cap Cards and LEE Jeans.
Who and/or what inspires your work?
My inspiration comes from a lot of different things. I think I’m obsessed with objects. I get really inspired by flea markets. I love postcard collections, exotic curiosities, antique tableware, freaky dolls, kitsch vases, rusty tools, vintage perfume bottles and so on.

more about me

i'm obsessed with...

flea markets and visiting botanical gardens all around the world!

if i had to describe my work in 3 words...

My illustrations are playful, colorful and feminine.
What's the best artistic advice you've received?
That you will always feel slightly insecure about your work, but that will never go away. So it’s not a reason to not show your art to the world and just go for it.

In 5 years I see myself...

"I enjoy my work so much that I’m not really thinking about doing anything else. I hope I have worked for my dream clients and maybe I want to have a bigger studio!"
