Q&A
What does the world need more of?
Truth. I've always held the truth above anything else. The truth is unapologetic and honest, you in the most raw form. That's a vulnerable space to operate from, but we'd save each other a lot of time and heartache if we didn't have to work our way through the layers of crap we hide behind.
What would you like the next generation of girls to know?
You don't have to prove anything to anyone. I've always been a fan of disruptors, people who challenge the status quo, or speak up. You can shake things up and make a difference in this world quietly or loudly – there's no right or wrong way to do it.
What did you want to be growing up?
I grew up hearing (and believing) that you couldn't make a living being a writer, so my next favorite dream was to be a high power PR exec. I wanted to live in pantsuits and work in a fancy New York City office building.

Her experience with female role models ...

"I didn't really have female role models growing up, which made my teen years difficult. The good news is that that has changed dramatically over the last few years, and it has taught me firsthand the importance of young girls having women to look up to."

more about me...

what i love about being a writer is...
I love the versatility.  If I want to hole up in a cabin somewhere and write, I can do it. If I want to create and collaborate with businesses and entrepreneurs that inspire me, I can do it. In every job I've had since high school, I needed variety to keep me interested.
a pet peeve of mine is...
Getting bored. So. Painfully. Bored. But writing keeps me on my toes and challenges me to stretch myself as a writer and a human being.
a confession of mine...
When I was in high school, all I wanted was "truth" tattooed on my body somewhere. Thankfully I didn't – I got a bunch of other bad tattoos instead after college!

"Know who you are, what you want, and your motivations. That's all you need to get going."
